Oliver has lived in Warwick since 2003 and has two teenage children.
He works at the University of Warwick and completed a part-time degree in European Studies in 2016. He has always maintained an interest in international affairs and politics in general, which led him into local politics.
He stood as candidate in the 2019 local elections and served four years as both a District and Town councillor. He sat on the District's Planning Committee throughout that time and became chair of Licensing in 2022.
Prior to becoming a councillor he was actively involved in local scout and theatre groups. He is also a regular supporter of Warwick’s brilliant Folk Festival.
Oliver has consistently believed in supporting residents and businesses locally on all matters, large or small. For him that is the most rewarding and important part of being a councillor. In the 2023 local elections Oliverretained his Town Council seat and became Mayor of Warwick in May 2023; a role he enjoys tremendously and in which he takes great pride. As Mayor he actively seeks to promote the town on behalf of residents, businesses and visitors alike; helping to show-case its strong heritage and traditions, its vibrancy and great community spirit.
