We’re delighted that our town centre businesses are reopening on Monday. Working alongside colleagues from Warwickshire County Council, BID Leamington and the Chambers of Trade, measures have been put in place to ensure our safety. Shopping will be a very different experience to pre-coronavirus times, but we’re determined to make these changes work so this vital next step in our overall Recovery Plan is successful, protecting local jobs and helping restart our retail economy.
When you come to town, you’ll certainly notice a difference to the layout, redesigned to:
- Allow more room for queueing, as road space has been reallocated to pedestrians.
- Put in place new, vibrant signage to guide you through the changed layouts and safety queueing arrangements.
Town centre Ambassadors are also on hand to answer your questions and assist all our town centre visitors so everyone has a safe and enjoyable visit.
Over the coming days, we’ll be reviewing arrangements and making changes to ensure we continue to improve your experience visiting our town centres - please be patient and work with the Ambassadors so together we can learn what works best. As Government guidance changes, so will the arrangements in our towns – we suggest you regularly visit here for updates.
Don’t forget too, that all our Town Centre carparks are free until the beginning of August, so you’ll have that little bit more to spend supporting our brilliant local retailers.
The new discretionary grant scheme has been launched to support small businesses which have fewer than 50 employees and meet other criteria. More information on how to apply is here.
We believe that the only certainty in life is that change is here to stay. So it is with the future operation of Warwick District Council. All our Council buildings will remain closed with most of our Officers working from home. There are no immediate plans for staff to return to our headquarters at Riverside House. A comprehensive review of our service delivery is underway to ensure that we capitalise on the new ways we have learnt to work. Like so many other organisations at this time, we’re looking to be more agile and efficient while capitalising on opportunities to meet our carbon reduction goals, all the while improving the services given to you, our wonderful residents.
